Anna
Currently a ward in the Kingshand Clinic and Infirmary, this young country lass was traumatized and rendered dumb by her experiences with the witch in the woods. Her recovery is slowly ongoing, but her unfortunate illiteracy prevented her from even telling Freehold her name, until Thea Sorrowchild used thought-reading magic to awkwardly but ingeniously acquire some very basic information from her.

Caladhuen
A moon elf freed from the clutches of giants by Nitis Nochan, Samuel Fisher, and Vashiir il Luereth das Ferevan during the events of their return to the mines. Claiming she was carelessly captured while investigating the area as part of her mission, she helped the trio avoid several of her captors' traps and safely extract Mircea na Heliogabala and the other prisoners from the iron mines, proving to be a proficient warrior despite the loss of her gear.

Following their return, Caladhuen revealed that she was dispatched, along with others, from the Isle of Quelthiir, to the west. Her assignment was to explore Veldorn's "lack of strangeness," described as a sudden descent into relative normalcy from the usual unique regional occurrences that seem recently to be absent or in decline. Having pledged her blade to Freehold for a year and a day in exchange for her rescue, she has said that the village seems to be drawing unusual happenings to it, as if the Shaar's bizarreness is somehow funneling into the land nearby. For now, she seems content to remain in the settlement and observe that process, offering to contact her superiors back home on Freehold's behalf so that she might better complete her mission and assist her new allies.

Cravan McLepid
A human merchant from Sembia, Cravan was a nobleman who often came across as pompous or foppish in his speech and mannerisms, but who in reality possessed a keen appreciation of law and honor. His caravan was among the first settlers of Freehold, traveling along with Vio Belc from their homeland in hopes of building a trade route to Assur. He was largely responsible for organizing and facilitating the first Council election and cooperated with Nitis Nochan to design the town center structure that serves as Freehold's heart.

Originally a PC, Cravan was converted to an influential NPC when his player retired shortly after the Pathfinder reboot of the game, then reduced to a dwindling role and, finally, written out as having relocated elsewhere for business reasons.

Dimble Garrick
A halfling sailor and fisherman, Dimble came to Freehold along with Lord Aram Lazard's caravan out of Tethyr. Inspired by the presence of the Liontongue River and Freehold's lack of maritime trade, he decided to settle in and stay in attempt to build a ground-floor venture to fill that niche, even rushing to assist during the Ghauwffhwar siege.

Originally a PC, Dimble was converted to an influential NPC when his player retired 10 July, 2014.

Elkas Strifelaughter
A halfling druid who specialized in fighting from the back of his animal companion, a large badger named Oscar. He traveled to the iron mines during the mine expedition and played an important role in keeping contact with Freehold via daily animal messenger spells, as well as his other contributions.

Originally a PC, Elkas was written out as having traveled to Aerilpar Forest when his player retired after the mine expedition.

Evelina Evenwood
The daughter of carpenter Mourn Evenwood, Evelina was apprenticed to Nitis Nochan during the first annual Harvest Festival, when her father claimed she was more interested in "childish" pursuits like stonemasonry and architecture than woodworking.

Farwen Athscar
A moon-elven aeromancer who has studied at the Lady's College in Silverymoon, among other places, Farwen's introducation to Freehold was notable in that the mage arrived on the same day as the Ghauwffhwar siege, which interrupted his discussion with Councilor Shara Graye and the archmage Vashiir il Luereth das Ferevan regarding the Cynosure. He was gravely wounded during the ensuing defense, but nonetheless assisted in capturing the gnoll leader's remaining personal bodyguard for questioning.

During the first annual Harvest Festival, Farwen revealed his experience as a sculptor, drawing the attention of golem constructor Councilor Nitis Nochan. His most recognizable trademark was his levitating meditation, often performed near the waters of the Liontongue River.

Sadly, Farwen met his demise alongside fellow volunteer Uletna Darkroot during the return to the mines, crushed by a giant's boulder during a pitched melee with their pursuers after rescuing Mircea na Heliogabala and other allies from captivity.

Originally a PC, Farwen was converted to an NPC when contact with his player was lost following the first annual Harvest Festival.

Fijit
One of Dardlara Ashhart's sex workers and a staff member at the Black Orchid, Fijit is a meek gnome lass with a shy, innocent manner and a soft, nearly inaudible voice. She habitually dresses in clothing meant for young human girls rather than adult gnome women.

Gorn
One of the only settlers to arrive in Freehold from the east rather than another direction, Gorn was engaged upon a trading mission when he discovered Freehold by accident, thanks to Grigor Marsk, whose caravan had already stopped in the settlement on its way to Assur.

A mason by trade, Gorn also proved his familiarity with the bow and blade during the Ghauwffhwar siege of Freehold, not long after his arrival. Despite the protective magic of Vashiir il Luereth das Ferevan, he was wounded badly enough to retreat during the defense of the southern fields, after facing down a gnoll officer and several skirmishers in pitched melee.

Originally a PC, Gorn was converted to a minor NPC when his player retired 16 May, 2014, and, finally, written out as having relocated elsewhere for family reasons.

Hrrlak
A towering ogre with greater intellect than is typical of his race, Hrrlak serves as the nominal "chieftain" of the alliance of misfit humanoids and monstrous humanoids that have claimed the iron mines northeast of Freehold as their lair. Surprisingly conversational and diplomatic, Hrrlak greeted the expedition sent by Freehold to explore the mines as guests, arranging an exchange of "ambassadors" to give both settlements a chance to acquaint themselves with the other. He was rescued from giant captivity during the return to the mines, along with his shaman Khleg, and subsequently agreed to a defensive pact wherein his folk would supply Freehold with iron ore, and in exchange would receive weaponry and assistance with their fortifications. As a result of these events, he now considers Nitis Nochan a friend.

Ilaine
Another sex worker at the Black Orchid, Ilaine is a tempestuous fire genasi woman who specializes in domination and discipline. She maintains a violent, irritable mien and has a habit of cracking her knuckles threateningly at people when left with nothing else to do. Skilled in the use of the whip, she serves as the bordello's bouncer as well as being a dominatrix-for-hire, often dressing in spiked red leather armor to "hide the blood."

Jama
Originally a young Durpari slave owned by master merchant Saldashune, of Unther, Jama began life as a farmer until he contracted the curse of the werecheetah from a traveling adventuress. Through the negotiation and charity of Valentino Rizavi, with assistance from the First Freehold Council, he was freed by his mistress and allowed to become a citizen of Freehold on 24 Nightal, 1373DR.

Jasmal
The pole dancer at the Black Orchid, Jasmal is a tall, athletic woman of Chondathan or Tethyrian descent and bold, sociable personality. To keep in shape, she swims in the Liontongue River, nearby, and can often be met jogging through the fields in the mornings, when the brothel is closed for business from dawn to highsun.

Joseph Loresong
The adoptive son of Miles Loresong, half-orc Joseph enjoys working with his hands and feels a need to prove himself to his neighbors, and so sought apprenticeship with Nitis Nochan during the first annual Harvest Festival.

Karou
Lysander Arkaine's familiar. Karou is a blood hawk of massive size, more than large enough to carry a full-grown wolf into the air, and blessed with human-level intellect. He served as a Private Arcane in the Cormyrian Special Forces during the Goblin Wars, and is now employed in the Freehold Guard as the settlement's chief lookout. He has a military crispness to his mannerisms and is a deadly combatant, marked with scars to match those of his partner, as well as being versed in spellcraft and the use of various magical devices.

Kawashiro Katsura
The youngest daughter of clothiers Sanosuke and Eiko Kawashiro, Katsura is a meek girl with a natural gift for magic. Her family petitioned Shara Graye to take Katsura as an apprentice during the first annual Harvest Festival, to which the wizard agreed, making Katsura the first official student of the Cynosure.

Lyros
One of Dardlara Ashhart's sex workers, Lyros serves as the Black Orchid's masseur and is a specialist in aromatherapy, familiar with many forms of exotic perfumes and incense. Though handsome, his tiefling heritage is painfully evident in his long, prehensile tail, ashen skin, and the scent of wet campfire that surrounds him, which he typically conceals with colognes and scented oils.

Mera
Another of Saldashune's slaves, Mera is a Chessentan scribe and self-taught scholar. She was adopted into Freehold as a free woman on 24 Nightal, 1373DR, thanks to Valentino Rizavi, with assistance from the First Freehold Council.

Miles Loresong
A schoolteacher by trade, Miles is a half-drow bastard, the product of rape during a raid on his mother's settlement in Cormyr. Possessed of a generally calm and forgiving demeanor, he has a sympathetic spot for other misfits and half-breeds, even adopting a young half-orcish boy named Joseph as his own son. He came south with Lysander Arkaine and Raxam Kelastro's caravan to escape the stigma of his birth, founding Freehold's first school in his new home, which doubles as the schoolhouse.

Originally a PC, Miles was converted to a minor NPC when his player retired shortly after the Pathfinder reboot of the game.

Rajaput
Once belonging to the caravan mistress Saldashune, Rajaput was born into slavery in Mulhorand and brought to Durpar at a very young age to serve as a courier. Valentino Rizavi, with help from the First Freehold Council, negotiated his freedom on 24 Nightal, 1373DR.

Rondell Blimth
Purchased in Mulhorand by Saldashune, of Unther, Rondell claims to have once co-owned a sculpting firm in Gheldaneth, and that he was sold into slavery to pay for false crimes his former partner framed him as having committed. On 24 Nightal, 1373DR, Valentino Rizavi and the First Freehold Council successfully bargained for his freedom.

Shedim Kun
A rare spectral panther, born on the Plane of Shadow and found south of Freehold after her mother was slain by a mysterious alchemical trap. She was adopted by Adoward Beastfriend, with whom she has formed a lasting bond, though the dwarf is still learning about the powers possessed by such strange creatures. Now of significant size and still not fully mature, Shedim Kun requires increasing amounts of both meat and the fear of intelligent humanoids to stay healthy; thankfully, she is also of high intellect and understanding, and does not deliberately prey on the folk of Freehold for the latter resource.

Silkenray
A teenage runaway from Tethyr, Silk stowed away aboard a ship to escape his war-torn homeland and wound up a criminal in Durpar, where theft is the greatest of all crimes. While there are laws against capital punishment in the Shining Lands, the sentence for thieves is usually removal of a hand. Luckily, Saldashune rescued him from the block and negotiated for his indenturement, instead, carrying him westward until Valentino Rizavi, along with the First Freehold Council, paid dearly to free the boy on 24 Nightal, 1373DR.

Skardeg
An unusually bright and educated orcish warrior from the iron mines beyond Aerilpar Forest, Skardeg was chosen by Hrrlak to be the mine-folks' goodwill "ambassador" to Freehold, in exchange for Mircea na Heliogabala. The swap was meant to last for one year, during which Skardeg was instructed to learn more about Freehold and make a judgment of it that Hrrlak could use to determine their future as allies or enemies. He was instrumental in cementing their pact during the return to the mines, after which he remained with his own people, as planned.

Willowheart
A canny silver fox originally from the highlands near Rashemen, Willowheart serves as Thea Sorrowchild's familiar. The vulpine companion can be excitable, but is usually well-mannered and friendly, if a bit over-curious. Ever protective of her mistress, the fox lets little slip by her perceptions.
