First Freehold Council by his fellow villagers.
Originally an assistant to his father, a blacksmith, Nitis left home to pursue a career in architecture in Baldur's Gate, but came east as the result of temporary employment as a caravan guard. Unused to the small print of business but enchanted by the idea of so much flat land for building things, the young sorcerer decided to stay after arriving in the new settlement.
Nitis distinguished himself early on by virtue of being the most skilled architect among the settlers, and was given the task of designing and implementing many of Freehold's early structures, including the town center (with help from Cravan McLepid) and most of the ranch- and farmhouses. After joining the Council, he was given the secondary title of Senior Public Planner and charged with the construction of the original Watchtowers: A series of alchemically reinforced towers fortified by spike-filled dry moats and murder holes, proposed by Raxam Kelastro, Lysander Arkaine, and Adrian Fisher.
Drafted as a member of the expedition to the distant northeastern iron mines for his technical expertise and power over earth and stone, Nitis contributed significantly to the success of that excursion; no less so during the Ghauwffhwar siege of Freehold some months later, when he confronted the leader of the gnoll raiders and was able to hold both the shaman and his personal bodyguard at bay until reinforcements arrived, earning him the name "Earth-Shaker" from the enemy forces.
This determination served him well when Nitis led the return to the mines to collect fellow Councilor Mircea na Heliogabala from his ambassadorial exchange, only to find that giants had attacked Hrrlak's people, capturing the ogre as well as Mircea. Along with Samuel Fisher and Vashiir il Luereth das Ferevan, the young sorcerer crossed the plains, infiltrated the giants' steading, and successfully rescued their allies and the elf Caladhuen. Glad to be home after the harrowing journey, Nitis subsequently threw himself into a bevy of public works projects, such as designing the Kingshand Municipal Hospital.
