Born in Rashemen, Thea spent much of her time on the moors, learning from her mother and any who would care to teach her, her heart originally set on becoming one of the hathran—the rulers of Rashemen. Unfortunately, her family was caught up in the slave trade with Thay, kidnapping other Rashemi and selling them to their mortal enemies for profit. Thea's honesty in alerting the hathran to this practice cost her dearly: Her first familiar, a fox she called Grassdancer, was slain in a retaliatory raid from Thay, killed defending her mistress. Her older family members were deemed complicit in the slavery and executed; those younger were given to other families to care. Thea was saved from execution only through the begging of her mother, and even then she was faced with the harshest punishment the hathran could give her—exile from Rashemen, never to return on pain of death.

Thea and her second familiar, a silver fox called Willowheart, made their way south through Thesk and the Sea of Falling Stars to Chondath and across the Eastern Shaar, pausing a while in Hlath, coming to Freehold while accompanying Grigor Marsk's trading caravan.

Skilled in herbal lore and the healing arts, Thea immediately found a kindred spirit in Trendal Kingshand and his family at the Kingshand Clinic and Infirmary, where she found employment as an assistant alchemist in Belle Kingshand's apothecary. Shortly thereafter, following the Ghauwffhwar siege, she was among the many who spent days treating Freehold's wounded, helping to keep the casualties of the gnoll raid to only two deaths.

After Adoward Beastfriend, Samuel Fisher, and Ash Nahcomence discovered and slew the witch hiding in the western woodlands, they turned her intended sacrificial victim over to the Kingshand Infirmary for care. Following initial evaluation and treatment, it was confirmed that the poor, lost farm girl had been struck dumb by trauma; since then, Thea has largely taken responsibility for the young woman, personally overseeing her mental and emotional care and helping her to slowly recover from the ordeal, with assistance from Willowheart.

Anna was left briefly on her own, however, while Thea accompanied the first caravan to Assur in search of materials for her home and garden. There, she spent much of her time in Chauntea's arbor, where she exchanged a handful of precious Rashemi roses to the druid caretaker for a willow tree. It was the young witch who, on the journey home from Durpar, also saved the life of wild griffon who had been injured in battle with a mighty roc, feeding it a bowl of meat laced with healing draught. She likewise called upon the powers of nature when the caravan came under attack by hill giants, fighting back the raiders with ice and conjured beasts alongside Gheric Nailo and Valentino Rizavi.

The foundation was laid for Thea's cottage and attached garden in Alturiak, after her return, and she resides now not far from the edge of the western woodlands, just beyond the wall.
