Perhaps originating furthest from Freehold among any of its citizens, Mircea hails from the capital of distant Damara in the snowy and mountainous north. Both a warrior and a lay priest of Silvanus, Mircea was among those elected to the First Freehold Council, due to his selfless nature and diplomatic demeanor.

Employed in his homeland as a mine foreman, Mircea was a natural choice for the expedition to the iron mines northeast of Aerilpar Forest. Though reluctant both to abandon his position as a Councilor and to stay alone with Hrrlak's tribe of misfits, Mircea nonetheless acquiesced to the others' urgings and remained there rather than returning to Freehold, allowing Skardeg to take his place in an exchange of goodwill "ambassadors" for one year, so the two settlements might better acquaint themselves with each other.

The trade didn't go off quite as planned, however: Though the Damaran got on well enough with the greenskin community, disaster struck when hill giants from nearby attacked them, killing many and taking Mircea, Hrrlak, and others prisoner. While captive, he discovered little about the seemingly unprovoked assault, other than to overhear that the giants were worried about smaller races moving in on their territory. Fed poorly and roughly treated, Mircea languished for some time in his cell before being rescued by Councilor Nitis Nochan, archmage Vashiir il Luereth das Ferevan, and huntsman Samuel Fisher during their return to the mines. The experience left him shaken and traumatized; heartbroken over the brutal death of his steed Noapte Cer, the Damaran now says and contributes little, seeming a ghost of his former self.

Originally a PC, Mircea was converted to an influential NPC when contact with his player was lost during the decline of the original Unnamed Settlement game.
