Deep One Hybrids

Origin: Pre-humanity (Based on H.P.Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos). They have a colony off the U.S. Coast.

Deep Ones are a monstrous race of intelligent humanoid beings with fish, human and amphibian-like traits. They are described as having greyish green, glossy and slippery skin with white stomachs. They have scaled, ridged backs, as well as webbed hands and gilled necks. Notably, they have a head similar to that of a fish, with eyes incapable of blinking.

They move about in an inhuman fashion, by hopping oddly, and occasionally move on all fours. They having abhorrent, croaking voices and speek a language other than English.

The nature of these creatures are such that they are not suitable for use as player characters. However, these creatures have been involved in breeding experiments with humanity and they can produce offspring that can pass as human. All player characters will be Deep one hybrids - the result of a breeding experiment between a Deep One and a Human Being.

Although the Deep One hybrid offspring are born with the appearance of a normal human being, they gradually assume the appearance of their Deep One ancestors. These traits include:

    Shrunken/nonexistent ears
    Glassy, bulging, unblinking eyes
    Narrow, hairless head
    Rubbery, blue-gray skin
Folds on the neck which eventually become functional gills
    Webbing between fingers

When the hybrid becomes too obviously non-human, they go into seclusion in ostensibly abandoned buildings until fully capable of living solely underwater. The rate of progression varies with each individual. However, it normally does not reach completion until the human middle age. Once this transformation is complete they are also functionally immortal. Apart from the physical change they also feel a scorn for humanity, an affinity for the Non-Euclidean artwork of the Deep One race, and an increasingly powerful desire to abandon the human world and go to the Deep One city of Y'ha-nthlei.

Abilities

As nearly as can be determined, hybrids don't get sick, and most poisons do nothing to them.  They produce a mildly paralytic poison in their saliva. They have a talent for harnessing the magical energies of their deep one ancestors, though this form of magic is quite alien to humanity. Over time a deep one hybrid may learn certain magics capable of opening up space-time portals to alien dimensions - a feat that would drive normal humans insane.
