CHAPTER 1 – CONVICTIONS
There stands an impossibly tall mountain on the southwestern edge of the Cloudcrystal Skyfields from which rumors of transmissions offering bounties, kidnappings, and a dumping ground for the Lost spread. Those who deal in bounties know those transmissions are more like shopping lists for the master the mountain, Izaltu. He pays well in trade for potential additions to his collection. Some say he collects people to use as living power sources for his pet projects. Those who enter Izaltu's Needle are never heard from again.
You wake in a foreign cavern, the latest crop of offerings to the mysterious Collector you've heard speak through numenera devices and whispered about in tavern corners. Some of you were discarded, framed for nefarious deeds while others were hunted and disposed of for crossing powerful people... whatever the reason, you have all been abandoned in an oblong cavern of synth and steel.
You know those delivered to Izaltu do not return.
You know you must escape.
