Character Creation

Think of a character you want to play that would fit within your GM's setting. You can coordinate with your GM and fellow players for what type of characters you all want to play. Once you have an idea, you follow a few simples steps.

STEP 1: DOSSIER
You'll create a dossier for your character which includes a name, description of your character's appearance, description of their motivation and personality, and a summary of their backstory.

STEP 2: POWERS & SPECIALTIES
You begin play with a set number of experience points (XP), usually 25 for dungeon-delving adventurers, 50 for high-powered adventurers, and 100 or more for demigods and world-saving superheroes. You spend this XP to buy ranks in powers and specialties.

Powers cost 10 XP per rank and specialties cost 5 XP per rank. If your power does not allow you to do anything superhuman or magical, you pay half these normal costs for them, rounded down (5/2).

However, the maximum rank you can have in any one power or specialty is equal to 5 + the number of powers you have + the number of specialties you have.

STEP 3: FLAWS
You can also acquire flaws in exchange for bonus XP, up to whatever limit your GM sets. This is optional.

STEP 4: PARTY UP
Once you've spent all your XP and written up their dossier information, your character is ready to go. They otherwise have no other stats for you to juggle. Using powers on other characters, creatures, and objects imposes conditions on them. Any creature suffering the helpless condition can be killed with a successful attack, but imposing that condition is often difficult unless they're suffering from other conditions first. Conditions are used to represent injuries and illness as well as buffs.

Yes, it's really that fast and easy and still allows for some really interesting gameplay.
