Specialties
You can buy ranks in a specialty the same way you do a power, but specialties are more specific and niche than powers. A specialty can be:
- more specific concept within the power's purview
- specific conditions or equipment
- specific practices
- specific subset of special abilities within the power's purview
A specialty cannot consume more than 1/4 of a power's purview, so if it's more broad or general than this, it cannot be a specialty. If you have ranks in a power and a specialty within that power's purview, you add both of your ranks together when doing anything within the purview of that specialty.
Examples |
- Might (Swords) means that you're particularly good with wielding swords.
- Might (Weightlifting) meaning you're treated as much stronger only for the purposes of picking up and moving heavy objects and carrying capacity.
- Death (Spawn) would you to be more proficient with spawning or summoning undead.
- Death (Soulbinding) allowing you to bind spirits, possess people, and exorcise or banish spirits better.

A rank in a specialty costs
3 XP per rank.
If the power has a minor restriction reduce this to
2 XP per rank.
If the power has a major restriction, reduce this to
1 XP per rank.
