Lady Althrielle of the Luminous Veil

Description:
Tall and lithe, Lady Althrielle possesses an ethereal beauty synonymous with Nyssian nobility. Her silver-blue hair, reminiscent of cascading water under moonlight, falls gracefully down her back. Deep azure eyes hold a gleam of intelligence and suppressed mischief, though occasionally shadowed by past sorrows. Her attire is always of the finest make, gossamer robes that shimmer with the light of distant stars, hinting at her high standing and impeccable taste.

Background:

Lady Althrielle, once the gleaming jewel of the Nyssian House of Luminous Veil, epitomized the restless ambitions that drive the politics of her kind. In the grand ballrooms adorned with cosmic opulence and in whispered conversations behind shimmering veils, her name was synonymous with both awe and dread. For her ambitions knew no bounds, and her methods to achieve them were often ruthless. Her intelligence and beauty were unrivaled, making her the most influential of her generation.

Despite her achievements, her beloved cousin, Lord Elandrial, frequently voiced concerns. Elandrial, known for his insight and gentle disposition, would often pull her aside during gatherings, cautioning her of the path she treaded. "Your ambitions," he'd murmur, "will eclipse the very stars you aim for. There are costs to such desires." She dismissed his concerns, considering him weak and unambitious.

Then, the ill-fated night at the Solar Gala, one of the grandest celebrations in Nyssian culture, became the turning point in Althrielle's life. An enemy, Lord Vareth of the Nebulous Shade, retaliated against her manipulations by orchestrating an attack during the festivities. As fire and shadow mingled with the ethereal lights, many from the House of Luminous Veil perished. In the midst of the chaos, Elandrial, using his own body as a shield, protected Althrielle from a lethal strike. Gravely wounded and drawing his last breaths, he looked up to his cousin, pain and pity evident in his gaze. "Your pride," he whispered, a tear streaking his face, "has brought this doom upon us." And with that, he placed upon her a bitter curse; that all she once relished would now only bring her sorrow, until she learns the essence of true, selfless love.

Now, every victory feels hollow, every pleasure turns bitter. The once vivacious Lady of the Luminous Veil is now a shadow of her former self, often seen wandering the vast halls of her ancestral home, her once sharp wit now edged with melancholy. However, in this despair, a new Althrielle emerges. One who, beneath the sharp remarks and aloof demeanor, holds a budding wisdom shaped by solitude and regret.

Traits:

  1. Witty Commentator: Her sharp wit is well-known, endearing her to some and irking others. Conversations with her are never dull.

  2. A gift and a curse: Althrielle is a brilliant political maneuverer, with a mind adept at discerning the hidden undercurrents of courtly intrigue. As a result of her curse, her political strategies are even sharper, more cunning and cold, but whenever she succeeds, she is harmed in some way in her success, whether it be by the biting guilt of knowing the pain she's caused or some practical loss she suffers as a part of her success.

  3. Master of Glamours: A diadem passed down through her lineage, it amplifies her glamours, allowing her to weave spells of greater intricacy. Her skills with illusion are second to none, thanks to the diadem and her own relentless pursuit of perfection.  These are no merely illusions.  They capture the mind making a person believe what they're seeing to the point that a fatal blow can truly stop the heart or a person could be made to fall in love with the great beauty they see.

  4. Web of Beneficiaries: With her abundant wealth, she's generously sponsored various figures across the universe, from artists to scholars. This vast network of patronage has gifted her a multitude of loyal allies and connections.

  5. Regal Combatant: Nyssian politics run bloody and being the best at it means you'd better be able to kill or be killed. The tragedy has driven her to perfect her combat skills. And with her family gone, she has come into sole possession of the enchanted arms and armor of the House of the Luminous Veil.

  6. Haunting Beauty: The tragedy has only added to her allure. Her beauty, tinged with an ever-present sorrow, draws others to her, even as it serves as a constant reminder of her painful past.
