Its location made it a prime target for pirates and raiders. When Elara was 17, her hometown was viciously attacked by a band of raiders, causing widespread destruction and loss of life. Elara's quick thinking and bravery during the attack saved many lives, but the event left a lasting impact on her and fueled her desire to join the Star Wardens and protect the Commonwealth from external threats.

After joining the Star Wardens, Elara quickly rose through the ranks due to her intelligence, skill, and unshakeable dedication to the Commonwealth. However, her tendency to act quickly, sometimes without fully considering the consequences, has landed her in hot water on more than one occasion. Despite this, she has gained a reputation as a highly skilled and effective member of the Star Wardens, and her superiors have learned to trust her judgment, even if they occasionally have to pull her out of tight spots.
