Netherworld Homes
The Keeper provides a home for everyone who lives in Netherworld. The majority of the residents live in apartments in The East Wing, most of the crafters have cottages close to their workshops, while Esmerelda, Lilliane and a few others, have bespoke residences. Many adventurers choose to live in rooms at the Inn, but the keeper will provide a private for them, if they wish.
However, homes have a price, as with any other item that you purchase, but they can be paid for with gold, collected from adventures, or with Building Credit. The Keeper and, occasionally, Nishka or the Librarian, give Building Credit to characters who have performed a service for Netherworld. Building Credit cannot be used for anything apart from building.
Note: As these homes are built and developed (magically) by The Keeper, they can be upgraded to any other home on the list, for the cost of the price difference. However, if you choose to downsize, you do not get ant money (or credit) back.
Basic Homes
Basic homes provide fairly simple accommodation for a PC. All the basic facilities are included, and they are serviced by a couple of part-time servants to do the basic cooking and cleaning for you. The more expensive the home, the better the facilities.
Tree House - Price 500gp. A large one-room house set fifteen feet up a tree, with space for one or two people to live comfortably, although it can fit ten people in an emergency. Rather than just being a square hut, it has been 'shaped' to fit the space available in the branches, and has a door, window, and small fireplace. However, expanding is limited by the space available in the tree. It could make a good home for a hermit or anyone who wants to live alone. Tree Houses will be located in Heroes wood. (based on the Grotto)
Cave House - Price 500gp. A one-room house carved into the rock, with space for one or two people to live comfortably, although it can fit ten people in an emergency. Rather than just being a small cave, it has been 'shaped' to make it a convenient space, with a door, window, and small fireplace. It can be expanded by adding more rooms cut into the rock. It could make a good home for a hermit, a character with dark vision or anyone who wants to live alone. Cave houses can be located around the edge of Heroes Wood or Heroes Field. (Based on the Grotto)
Simple Cottage - Price 710gp. A basic starter home that consists of Lodgings, Kitchen and Lavatory. You won't live in great comfort, but you will have all the basic facilities that you need. Home Businesses
Home business are homes for PCs that have a minor business function on the side. They generally come with part-time servants and assistants - who keep the place tidy, cook meals and do the basic work around the business. However, the 'business' is not a full-time business dedicated to making money for the owner, instead it is intended to help the PC with their crafts, hobbies and interests. However, they make a small income by selling basic goods and services to the market traders and residents as a side line. All servants are L1 commoners, assistants are L1 Experts.
Crafter's Cottage - Price 1540gp - A Country Cottage (described above) with a workstation instead of a garden. It makes a good home for any crafting or professional character and their family. Schools
School, is perhaps, a misnomer, they are primarily homes for PCs, who whish to be surrounded by other like-minded people, and take on a small group of personal followers. They all have space for an Aide (who looks after things while the PC is away) and five full-time followers, who wish to follow the same path as their mentor. Occasionally, the Principal of the house will find a gifted follower, able to take on a PC class, although the majority of students have NPC classes. The followers take on the chores associated with running the school (instead of servants) alongside their training. Schools are significantly more expensive than most other home businesses (as they need specialist training facilities) and often generate a lower income.
