Economics

Most characters don't need to understand this, as it relates primarily to the business and trade parts of the game.  Adventuring Gold still works for buying and selling.

While good hard cash is always welcome - a lot of Netherworld business is conducted in Credits.  To keep things straight, 1x Netherworld Credit is equal to 1gp, however, they are only good for transactions in Netherworld.

General Credits

Most of the NPCs get paid in General Credits, which can be spent for food, ale at the inn and just about anything else.  This includes minor items that are for sale in the market (or from the various crafters) and even for improving their home and living conditions.  Every character in Netherworld has a home, but while PCs and more important NPCs have nicer accommodation, the majority of NPCs have little more than a bed in a dorm.  That is probably about the same as they would have in most other towns or cities, so it isn't as mean as it sounds.  As they work, and contribute to Netherworld, Keeper assigns them credit.

Most unskilled workers earn 1xCredit per week and live in a dorm, which goves then something like the Poor living standard.  More skilled workers might get 2 or 3 credits a week and expect slightly better accommodation, which moves them towards the Average living standard.  That is covered automatically in the running and purchase costs of your homes and businesses, and operates as a background mechanic - so you don't need to worry about it.  Remember that you can use it for building, or with the Crafters, as well as for buying more mundane items.

However, it means that incomes from your businesses (including Home Businesses) are actually in Netherworld Credit, even though they are listed as GP.  So long as you spend them in Netherworld, they work exactly the same as gold.  It gives Netherworld a closed economy, which means it is self-sufficient, and keeps everyone occupied.

Building Credit

Building Credit can only be used for building, and is mainly offered as a reward for PCs who have done something, often heroic, to benefit Netherworld.  It cannot be changed for General Credit or Craft Credit.  You may change Gold, Crafter Credit or General Credit into BUilder credit, if you  do not have enough vredit for your planned building developments.

Crafter Credit

Crafter Credit is something else that is offered as a reward for PCs who have done something heroic to benefit Netherworld.  The main traders and crafters will accept Crafter Credit for making and selling items, in the smae way as gold -  however, they might offer a discount for hard cash.  Crafter Credit can be used by Home Crafters to purchase the pre-requisite materials they need for their own crafting.  It may also be exchanged for Building Credit, and used to develop your homes or business portfolio.
