The Red Ribbon Rebellion was an armed insurrection and war of independence fought during the Age of Dominion in Lokren between the Lokrenian army and a number of tribes of Ardryn. It was named for the strips of red cloth worn by the rebel soldiers in combat, or tied around the haft of their spears, which practice they adopted to distinguish friendly warriors from the "traitor" Ardryn who had joined forces with the crown of Lokren.

In 81 AD, several thousand Ardryn in the mountainous Kormunko region of Siladent Forest rose up against the Lokrenian forces stationed at Enasi Bluff, killing the garrison and Lokrenian civilian population and burning the town. Returning to the north, the Ardryn proclaimed independence as the Confederation of Free Ardryn Nations and fortified the high passes of Kormunko against Lokrenian attack.

King Thamas Gensattonha led a series of unsuccessful campaigns against the rebels, but was repulsed during his early attempts to reclaim the land from the Ardryn. Over the course of nearly a decade, many great battles were fought in the mountains, but the Lokrenians were unable to defeat the defenders and suffered terrible losses from Ardryn ambushes and feigned-retreat tactics that allowed the Ardryn to surround and slaughter entire columns of Lokrenian infantry.

The rebellion lasted fourteen years in total, ending after disillusionment came upon large sections of the Ardryn, particularly the younger generations who had grown up in the mountains, for the high passes of Kormunko were no great prize and not a fit place to forge a kingdom and to live their lives, even if they were free of Lokrenian rule. There were desertions and squabbles among the confederation members, with a few tribes leaving in their entirety to seek terms with the Lokrenians. The king encouraged this practice by demonstrating leniency towards those who bent the knee, wanting to draw more of the rebels down from the mountains and so weaken them to the point where the rebel confederation could no longer sustain itself.

In this he was successful and finally the aging Thamas was able to lead his army against the shattered remnants of the rebel nation, who surrendered without a fight. The Lokrenian king ordered the erstwhile rebels disarmed, bound, and slaughtered, earning him his epithet, "the death of nations". The killing took days and left the eastern Lutrosis slick with blood.

King Thamas's murderous act left its mark on Lokrenian politics, with his son adopting a similarly merciless attitude towards other Ardryn in the kingdom, who had been roused to further rebellion by the senseless butchery. It is widely believed that the ruthlessness displayed by King Thamas at the end of the Red Ribbon Rebellion was a major contributing factor in the Barons' Revolt of 105 AD.
