You will take control of a fledgling Faction within the rough Borderlands of an Empire in decline. Rise to power through taming the wilderness for a patron, building a trade empire, supporting the nation's conflict, or trying to carve out a free state of your own. Direct your would-be ruler and their sworn men and women, commanding squads of troops aboard a longship, workshops filled with craftsmen or the soaring airships of the skies. Build a secret hideout or a new town, or operate from one of the emerging petty kingdoms safe within their walls.

Your voice is that of one Thane from many. You begin with few supporters: a Skald and a band of fervent Followers. You have a reason to be here and now, to seek your fortune. You have somewhere to lay your heads at night, be it a croft in a tiny hamlet, a dragon-headed longship or a hidden warrior's hall. You have resources, of a sort, but will need to work out how to use them effectively and where to obtain more

From here everything is on your shoulders. You're in a rough land, with it's own would-be rulers and petty kings. You know there are others here, warriors and smiths and night-blades. Some work in the open, some in shadows. You need to work out who will work with you and who won't. Where to trust them and how much...
