inZoi
Zoi is a (most likely of South Korean relation) girl who just got a job at "AR Company", a tech company that apparently hires people to play SBURB (without the apocalypse part implied of playing SBURB).
Instead of creating a new universe to replace the old, dying one, her job is to create a new universe to replace a perfectly healthy one. Better than it sounds, I swear.

Zois, as we might assume Zoi named them, are virtual people akin to Sims. Just one catch; these aren't dumb animals elevated to sapience by the presence of god-gnomes through the green Plumbob of protagonism, but actual people like her and her co-workers. The mechanics of it are not fully explained, but essentially AR manufactures artificial - but not necessarily truly virtual - worlds for people to live in. Given her own life is also totally fine, that she herself may live in one of these constructed realities, and that this a The Sims competitor with the cozy genre themes that implies, we can assume it takes place in some sort of techno-utopia where people play games together as "work", but I suppose it's heavily up to interpretation.

Also known as Zoenets, the immortality process was co-developed by AR and Interscope. It utilizes PLixel technology to alter genetic code in every human cell of the host's body simultaneously. They are then placed in a coma for weeks, as their new genes slowly transform the person into a biologically-immortal and VR-ready "companion cube". While this entity is now rendered permanently immobile, the foam-and-flesh braincube inside the protective casing of a cube-shaped "Zoenet PC" exterior is essentially a Human Interface Device that allows the Zoenet to interact with the Hiverse as their only world. This reaffirmed genetic structure, known as a "Brain in a Box" to skeptics and critics, not only prevents aging, but also prevents cancer by constantly applying checksum tests to all of the user's genes. Despite the disheartening nature of becoming a literal brain-in-a-jar that is easily conceivable as being reduced to nothing but a basic unit of building material, this method is the cheapest and most proven method to become immortal; PLixelves are new and expensive, the Relic more-so and with dubious continuity between death and rebirth, and Uploads are an expensive-to-maintain and inferior method. The alternative is anti-aging treatments that merely slows death by decades currently, while hoping that biological immortality is achieved within one's own lifetime.
