Otherland
I'm just going to be honest and go into OOC mode here. I don't really like Otherland.
No, no, you misunderstand. There's one of several assumptions you can make:
1. I dislike it on a preferential subjective basis (partly true)
2. I dislike it on an emotional basis specifically (also partly true)
3. I dislike it on an artistic (pseudo-objective) basis (the right answer)
4. I have something against Tad Williams (not the case, strangely)
Otherland in Otherland
Otherland is like if Changeling: The Lost and Ready Player Two went back in time to the mid-1990s, had a baby that they abandoned in a 1990s dumpster, and then that one scene from Hobo With a Shotgun lit the dumpster on fire before the three of them hopped in that s***ty UFO Rick Sanchez drives to return to the 2010s and compete in some sort of The-Donganranpa-Game-of-Divergent-Squid-Maze-Throne-Battle-Royale-Runner to be the last edgelord standing.
It's not the overall quality that's the problem. It's the common thread of "literally everything is about how the bad guys have already harmed children in ways that cannot be recovered from". If the kids are already dead or traumatized, even some of them, I view that entire story as FUBAR.
So when I say I don't like Otherland, what I mean to say is, Otherland predicted everything that is wrong with the year 2025 in ways that the mere use of the cyberpunk genre can't, and I believe that was the intent of the people who have made real life more like that.
Which means I have little interest in including anything from it in the RP.
Otherland in Glitch Techs x RP
The only trace of it is a barely noteworthy VR equipment manufacturer known as Krittapong.
