Dennō Coil

Dennō Coil is an anime OVA from the mid-2000s (~2005). It predicted the rise of augmented reality (even if AR is barely used in 2025) and is 50% of the lore for the GameDec profession.

The titular "Dennō Coil" ("Digital Trap" if you translate based on it's actual plot significance) is a state of mental disconnect caused by the story's buggy AR glasses, which cause a desync issue. Firstly, this desync means machines, like self-driving cars, somehow won't know you're in their way (and drive over you or similar). Secondly, it causes hallucinations and you might not realize until it's too late that your body is in a different location than you feel and see it as being.
