Cyberpunk

Cyberpunk is a series of Tabletop Roleplaying Games first released in 1990.

The setting very much had a different way of doing things than Glitch Techs. A Cyberpunk was essentially a street thug, an Edgerunner someone reckless in a dangerous world, and a Solo an even more reckless person in a more dangerous position.

Corporations were also not much more than a series of bad guys to fight.

By this point the setting had evolved a bit but differences - in the context of this RP - are mostly incremental.

In 2023, Johnny Silverhand died and Arasaka's HQ in Night City was nuked. This led to the "Time of the RED". For the setting this was significant, however without any spare cash to buy a tabletop RPG and no desire to read the wiki in-depth to figure it out, I don't plan to play it so it is unlikely I can properly comment on it.

This is the meat of the timeline's influence on GTxRP. As the GM, the game is pretty fun and I feel more able to disbelieve an interactive setting on a 2D screen. As a result of it and the wiki, I'm able to absorb the setting well and adapt things to the GTxRP canon.

They essentially don't exist. Instead, this is a world where corporations like Arasaka are, though still the bad guys (most of the time), not the winners. Arasaka went bankrupt in the 2008 financial crisis, and only came back because even Hinobi is not above the law and monopolies aren't tolerated anymore.

That said, options are always good for the consumer. So you can thank Cyberpunk 2077 for some of the car companies and such.
