Ragnailt is a warrior, first and foremost.  He hails from one of the more belligerent clans in Ireland, and was taught to fight well before he began his apprenticeship.  As an apprentice, and then magus, of House Flambeau he always preferred to focus on more "proper" melee combat than on the standard techniques of standing back and hurling spells at a target.  He has a strong reputation in his House and throughout the Hibernian Tribunal as a champion fighter, earned through tournament victories and through more serious battles against various mundane and supernatural opponents over the years.  Ragnailt views himself as a "champion and protector of the people," which sometimes includes other magi and very much also includes the townsfolk of Margadh Fedelm (whether or not they are aware of this).

Despite his close ties with Irish people and traditions, and his loudly held opinions about the superiority of Hibernian culture over the rest of the Order, Ragnailt has a strong and stable relationship with the English traditionalist Caecilia.

Ragnailt appears to be in his late 40s or early 50s.  He has bright red hair and a beard to match, which he keeps trimmed fairly short.  He is more muscular than one expects for a wizard (though of course this is less unusual for those of his House than others).  He is fond of wearing brightly colored clothing in traditional Irish styles, with intricate embroidered patterns.
