Knacks
Knacks are little edges, those hard-earned tricks and gut instincts that set you apart. They give you a +1 bonus in specific situations tied to your Know-hows and reflect how you’ve learned to survive, charm, fight, or fix in this rough world.
Each Know-how has a few Knacks to choose from. Pick the ones that speak to who your character really is.
Charm
Snake oil smile, gain +1 to Charm when fast-talking, conning, or sweet-talking.
Flapjaw, gain +1 to Charm when spinning stories or performing to influence others.
Sunday best, gain +1 to Charm when making a good impression in formal or tense settings.
Read'em
Gut reader, gain +1 to Read 'Em when trying to sense lies or read a room.
Witch sense, gain +1 to Read 'Em when feeling out hidden motives or danger in folks.
Heartsight, gain +1 to Read 'Em when calming someone or finding the truth behind emotions.
Patch up
Snakebite salve, gain +1 to Patch Up when using natural remedies or makeshift medicine.
Sweet talk and sutures, gain +1 to Patch Up when easing pain or fear while treating injuries.
Old sawbones, gain +1 to Patch Up when treating critical wounds in the field.
Eye for trouble
Trail-eyes, gain +1 to Eye for Trouble when scouting or navigating.
Sign reader, gain +1 to Eye for Trouble when tracking a person, animal, or wagon.
Crow’s watch, gain +1 to Eye for Trouble when scanning for danger or an ambush.
Outfit
Hollowbelly fixer, gain +1 to Outfit when finding food or clean water.
Campcraft, gain +1 to Outfit when building shelter or securing a resting place.
Smoke knows, gain +1 to Outfit when interpreting natural signs (like smoke, wind, critter signs).
Make do
Nailbender, gain +1 to Make Do when fixing wagons, gear, or homestead tools.
Jury cobbler, gain +1 to Make Do when improvising tools or weapons.
Rustpatch, gain +1 to Make Do when salvaging broken things for parts or barter.
Quickdraw
Hair-trigger, gain +1 to Quickdraw when drawing and firing in the first round of combat.
Shot true, gain +1 to Quickdraw when taking a risky or long shot.
Ace of lead, gain +1 to Quickdraw when using firearms in tense or rapid exchanges.
Slide
Dust ghost, gain +1 to Slide when moving unseen, especially in natural terrain.
Card sharp, gain +1 to Slide when lifting something or cheating unnoticed.
Backdoor fade, gain +1 to Slide when slipping away from danger or a crowd unseen.
Scramble
Fencehopper, gain +1 to Scramble when climbing or vaulting obstacles.
Hell-for-leather, gain +1 to Scramble when running flat-out or dodging pursuit.
Ridge walker, gain +1 to Scramble when navigating cliffs, rooftops, or unstable footing.
Scrap
Dust-Up devil, gain +1 to Scrap in bar fights, grapples, or rough brawls.
Knuckle gospel, gain +1 to Scrap when fighting with fists or improvised weapons.
Grudge holder, gain +1 to Scrap when enduring hits and striking back harder.
Haul
Ox-back, gain +1 to Haul when carrying heavy gear, dragging bodies, or lifting wreckage.
Stone-set, gain +1 to Haul when holding firm against push, pull, or weather.
Coal-blooded, gain +1 to Haul when pushing through fatigue, pain, or sickness.
Saddle up
Born in the saddle, gain +1 to Saddle Up when riding rough terrain or tricky mounts.
Reinsplitter, gain +1 to Saddle Up when fighting from horseback or maneuvering in combat.
Whinny-Whisperer, gain +1 to Saddle Up when calming, training, or bonding with a horse or mule.
