Teachers at Cedar Ridge High School

Mr. Edward "Ed" Chambers
- Role: Principal
- Look: A stern man in his mid-50s, always impeccably dressed in a suit and tie, with neatly combed hair and a perpetually serious expression.
- Blurb: Mr. Chambers is the classic 80s high school principal, embodying authority and discipline. He’s known for his no-nonsense approach to running Cedar Ridge High, with a strong emphasis on rules and order. His office is adorned with motivational posters and a well-worn paddle that serves as a reminder of his strictness. Though he often seems out of touch with the students, Mr. Chambers believes in maintaining high standards and preparing his students for the future. Despite his tough exterior, he has a genuine, if rarely shown, concern for the well-being and success of his students.

Miss Rebekah Miller, School Secretary
It’s pretty much a given that a School Secretary runs the place more than the Principal (who talks to outside Administrators as often as to students.) In this case, it’s Miss Miller. She’s got a hand in your life, whether you know it or not.

She answers phones and the mail, acts as a liaison to parents, takes appointments and schedules events for the Principal, authorizes non-staff/student visitors to the school, updates student records (including attendance and disciplinary records), does ‘the paperwork’ for the school’s staff and even some accounting (for when the School Board wants to look at the budget). If you’re under 17 and work, she probably signed the work permit (and so knows where you work.) Official school events happen without her knowing about them, and most unofficial ones are on her radar.

If there was such a thing as a “Computerized Net-work” with all the files on it, she’d be less central, but as it is, it’s mostly just Miss Miller, her memory, and the contents of her locked filing cabinets. There aren’t any other secretaries in her office. If there were, she’d be “Senior Secretary”, and (as she jokes) “then I’d have to graduate.”

She does have a little knot of student “office volunteers” (some were “voluntold” to do it , others genuinely putting it on their college apps as an activity). They do light filing, typing, maybe run messages so she doesn't have to. They talk amongst themselves, she overhears.

Most students think about her just in the brief moments they interact, but staying on her good side is a good idea. She’s understanding- she knows she’s not dealing with adults. She’s the kindest bureaucrat many students will encounter in their lives- and pleasant in a slightly kitschy way. But she can ‘remember’ or ‘forget’ things in ways that can screw up your year. (Remembering or forgetting to tell you about scholarships you should apply for, for instance.)

“Weird Stuff”: People who can detect magic… don’t detect magic. Either she’s really good or she’s 100% mundane. It’s unclear how much she knows, but she knows so much about everyone else. (It’s mainly the size of the student body that keeps her from knowing everyone thoroughly. If you came, specially, to her attention, who knows?)
