Ebira-Sur is a dense region in Ebira with a lot of diversity in both biomes and cultures. It can be divided into three sub-regions: Megna, Hauton, and the Southern Wetlands.
Megna
Megna is the combined name for The Megna Jungle & Megnamata. It is not very commonly used.
The Megna Jungle is a thick jungle with a limited population of around 10 000 living within. It's name comes from the people living in the grassland nearby. This grassland is called Megnamata meaning "Land Near Megna" and the residents are called Megnamatarta or "People Of Megnamata".
Megnamata is home to about 100 000 people and a number of civilizations. One of these civilizations, the Numabre have recently grown quite strong under the merciless rulership of Kanitar Zuraz, and have launched an occupation campaign on the people of the Southern Wetlands. They faced little trouble occupying the Watergrass Expanse with their superior weapons and combat training. Recently, they have begun attempting to demand special payments from the Tribes of Color. However, they have been faced with difficulty in navigating the difficult terrain of the Mangrove Mazes, and so have begun using boats launched from the Watergrass deltas to pester the coastal peoples.
Hauton
Hauton is another term for the Hautonekee Territories. It's an exonym for the region, since it comes from a mistranslation of the term Hautonekee.
The Hautonekee are populous (about 60 000 of them) and peaceful, but isolated and suspicious of outsiders. They are known to chase travelers out of their land when they find, though they rarely resort to killing intruders. The Hautonekee are an ancient people, originating from a similar time to the Ebirans. However, unlike the Ebirans, they never strayed far from their place of ethnogenesis.
The Hautonekee and the people of the Lilac Garden Expanse are vaguely aware of one another's presences, though as they are both extremely isolationist, they have adopted an unofficial noninterference policy with one another. There exists no official contact between the leaderships of the two groups.
The Hautonekee have many unique customs and follow a religion not known by outsiders. Those who have caught glimpses of the rituals or managed to convince a shaman-priest to share a story with them, call it the Ancient Beast Religion, as they are purported to venerate compassionate and colossal creatures that died long ago to form the lands. Popular belief considers this a foolish superstition, as it is widely believed that the land has always existed.
Southern Wetlands
The Southern Wetlands can be split into three sub-regions: The Watergrass Expanse, the Mangrove Mazes and the Chromatic Reef. The latter two are the territory of the Tribes of Color

The Watergrass Expanse is by far the most populous region in the Southern Wetlands. It is built along the wetlands east of the Grand Khosi River and stretches to the river's ends at the deltas within the coastal rainforest. Water levels in the Watergrass Expanse range from ankle-height to neck-high at the deltas.
The people of the Watergrass Expanse - called the Daagi - are mostly agrarians, having a long history of farming rice and other hydroponic crops. They also occasionally herd sheep for their wool. The Watergrass Expanse has little official government, and thus has no concept of commerce or military. Daagi culture is extremely oriented around a notion of peace and tranquility - to the extent that they have hardly resisted the occupation of the Megnamatans. Furthermore, their overbearing and cruel actions only rarely lead to retaliation. Even before this invasion, the Daagi had a cultural taboo against killing livestock for meat, and would only use them for their secondary products unless doing otherwise was absolutely necessary.
The Daagi had an original population of 10 000, but many have died in a short time, leaving about 8000 of them...
The Watergrass Expanse has a slightly warm climate and a lot of moisture. It rains quite often. It never snows.
