In antiquity, Dzedje's Reach was known simply as 'The Reach'.

In Magazin, it was considered to be one of the edges of the world.

Meanwhile in Tyrfe, though it had long remained uncrossed, many Jragaz had made names for themselves scaling its peaks. The most powerful of clanless Wyrdoers would even sometimes set themselves up here, away from Tyrfean society.

However, a dozen generations ago, a terrible being known as Khunatak settled upon the highest peak, and claimed the vast mountains as its own. This put an end to the long-held tradition of mountaineering. Tyrfeans were unhappy with this, but had no power to fight against the monster.

That was, until a hero of heroes emerged several generations later. Widely considered the greatest Jragaz to ever live, his name was Dzedje. He was the last survivor of his clan, which had finally died out decades ago after a century of fighting Khunatak. He, and a band of his followers, became the first to completely scale The Reach. At the top, they challenged and defeated Khunatak.

Although only three of the group survived, they were not defeated. It is said that when Dzedje thrust his sword through the gargantuan creature, he did so with a resounding cry that echoed down the mountains, and his poetic boasts could be heard across all of Tyrfe for three days and three nights:
Legendary Song of The Dragonslayer
Heroes followed my footsteps!
Accompanied by death, we climbed the impassable mountains!
We challenged the tyrant of the peaks!
With my sword, I slew a dragon!
Solemnly, I bathed in the burning blood!

It was also said that for the same amount of time, all of the scarce freshwater in the land turned crimson and would set aflame any who neared it.

Since the time of Dzedje's great achievements, countless Jragaz have gone on pilgrimage to see the scene where Khunatak was felled. The first group there were accompanied by the Three Survivors and were the ones to retrieve his blade, which had been transformed after nine years of being reforged in the fallen tyrant's blood. The heroes claimed the blade for themselves and formed an entirely new Clan.

All of these events went largely unobserved within Magazin, except by the eyes of the most astute organizations.
