All First-Party (i.e., Wizards of the Coast) 5E character options, current and deprecated (e.g., you can choose a race from Eberron, Volo's, or Mordenkainen's, if there's a difference.) We've chosen to make spell scrolls usable by anyone that can read the language, requiring a casting check if the spell is above your level or not on your list. The Ritual Caster feat lets you learn how to cast all rituals, but if it's not on your spell list, you have to find someone to teach it to you.

Everybody starts with either a magic item or a feat of their own choosing. The magic item can be up to +2.

Also, everybody starts with consumable magic items. Nothing above uncommon availability.
Spellcasters like Wizards, Warlocks, and Sorcerers start the story with 7 one-shot magic items for free, either scrolls or potions, of your choice.
Martial Spellcasters like Bards, Clerics, Paladins, and Rangers start with 5 one-shot magic items for free, either scrolls or potions, of your choice.
Warriors like Fighters, Monks, and Rogues start with 3 potions of your choice.

If you make a character above 1st level, roll hit points and take the average result if it's higher than your roll.
