AoE1 sq. ft.TypeVS
When this spell is cast, the wizard is able to inscribe his personal rune or mark, as desired, upon any substance (even stone or metal). The mark can be visible or invisible. An invisible mark can be detected only by spells such as detect magic, true seeing, true sight, or wizard sight. A read magic spell reveals the caster’s identity.

The mark cannot be dispelled, but it can be removed by a dispel magic spell, an erase spell, or by magical means (e.g., wish or limited wish). If an explosive runes spell is cast upon a wizard mark, the runes function normally (i.e., they explode if triggered).

This spell is often used to sign one’s work, claim possession, or leave secret messages or identifiers in a location.
