Flute of Soothing Echoes (Uncommon)

At first glance, the Flute of Soothing Echoes appears to be little more than a finely made wind instrument—simple, elegant, and unassuming. Its body is carved from pale, silvery wood unlike any found in the local forests, smooth as river stone and cool to the touch. When held to the light, faint, almost imperceptible whorls shimmer beneath the surface—like ripples in a still pond—hinting at something deeper woven into the grain.

Delicate etchings inlaid with mother-of-pearl spiral along its length in quiet patterns. They seem abstract at first, but the longer one studies them, the more they resemble sleeping faces, curling leaves, or drifting smoke. The mouthpiece is polished to a soft luster, worn slightly from use, as though it has been played across many seasons, by many hands.

When held, the flute feels warm—not with heat, but with presence. There is a gentle pulse beneath the fingers, almost like a heartbeat, steady and calming. Even before it is played, its magic works subtly on the nerves, like the hush that settles over a room just before the first note of a lullaby.

And when one listens closely—very closely—they might hear it whispering. Not words, but echoes. Fragments of songs once played, laughter from feasts long past, the hush of leaves in wind. It does not demand attention; it invites it.

When played for at least one minute, the flute calms nearby creatures. All creatures within 30 feet who can hear the melody must succeed on a save vs spell or be charmed for six rounds beyond the one minute activation. While charmed in this way, a creature is pacified and will not initiate hostile actions unless harmed. The ability of the flue can be used once per day.
