THE LAUGHING DRAGON TAVERN AND INN
Tucked away to the south and west of downtown Falcon’s Hollow, the Laughing Dragon is a welcome sight for travelers and townsfolk alike. To reach it, one must cross the river by ferry—an easy, steady crossing that separates the noise of the Hollow from the tavern’s quieter woodland surroundings. Sixty yards off the main highway stands a carved wooden sign bearing the name The Laughing Dragon, beside a shaded path lined with tree boughs.
To the right of the walking trail runs a packed-earth wagon path, used by merchants delivering provisions through a pair of wide double gates set in a ten-foot stone perimeter wall. These gates are kept sturdy and well-oiled, a quiet testament to the inn’s reputation for quality and order.
Inside, the Dragon is all warm wood, golden light, and the smell of hearth-cooked meals. A crackling fireplace and polished beams invite long nights and longer tales. Patrons are greeted with cheer by Ivy, a young woman whose tireless energy and genuine attentiveness have made her a local favorite. Her easy smile, listening ear, and gift for making even strangers feel at home have turned many a wanderer into a regular.
The heart of the Dragon’s culinary success lies in the hands of Giffron Ophirn, a Hin chef with a passion for flavor and a perfectionist’s eye for presentation. While the tavern caters comfortably to elves and humans, it’s Giffron’s Hin fare—fluffy spiced dumplings, buttery herbed root-cakes, and tender, beer-braised meats—that draws even the gruffest dwarves into a satisfied silence.
To complement the food, the Dragon boasts a noteworthy selection of drinks—many imported from Falcarragh or sourced through savvy deals on the open market. But the house favorite is the inn’s own home-brewed ale, the pride and joy of the Dragon’s master brewer: Eloise Twoorb. A stout and hearty woman with a booming laugh and an unshakable love of her craft, Eloise is equal parts brew-master and tavern soul. When she’s had a few pints, her storytelling rivals the best bards in the Hollow.
Overseeing the day-to-day workings of the estate is Myshra Knowles, a composed and capable woman who ensures everything from supply chains to guest accommodations runs smoothly. The daughter of Cirthana Knowles, prelate to the Temple of Pelor. Myshra carries herself with quiet conviction and a sense of purpose inherited from generations of faith and leadership. While she rarely speaks of her lineage, the mark of old reverence lingers in her presence, and more than a few whisper that she was meant to lead something greater.
