Nationality

People in the world of Highmagick come from different places, and those places make different people distinctive in various ways.
A Nationality gives a short description of the homeland; a pair of Stats, each of which receives a +1 bonus; the name of the language native to the homeland; examples of names commonly found in the land; and some guidelines for how typical members of the region tend to look and dress.
Note that while each region has its own, native language, everyone in this part of the world is also fluent in Kihari, which is also known as Central or Common.

Centralites. Centralites come from the flying island that floats above the deserts east of the Cloudspike Mountains, which are commonly reached by airships or balloons. Centralites build almost exclusively using a dense rock they call Durman that comes from a powder, often reinforcing it with iron or lead rods. Men and women both tend to wear transparent or translucent shawls or wraps over silk underclothes and depend on the magical air- spheres in which they wrap their cities for warmth.

Easterners. The vast deserts that stretch across the eastern part of the continent have given rise to a rugged sort of people. In their huddled, towering cities, eastern- ers take shelter from the baking sun, as well as the giant worms, sauroids, and sand scorpions, under magical parasols and vent their third- or fourth-story apartments with enchanted winds. They grow mushrooms and root vegetables in cavernous underground farms and keep giant bugs inside subterranean tunnel systems as herd animals.

Southerners. Lakes, plains, and tall forests fill the southern parts of the continent, and the people that live there are consequently familiar with woodlands and the deer and wild boar that live in them. Many souls here farm and shepherd sheep, goats, and cattle, but just as many live in the trees and forage or hunt for their food. Almost all of the construction in this part of the world is made from wood, with thatch roofs. The garments, though, are widely varied, from light hides or fleeces to plant fibers or rich silks and velvets.
