You have access to more resources than normal either through fame, inheritance, investments, wealth, etc. Normally, you can only swap out 1 tier-worth of item-based abilities per day or downtime scene (whichever is shorter). You can swap (1 + triple this ability's tier)-worth of items each time. In addition, you can add this ability's tier to any social check made to influence others where bribery or payment are involved as part of the negotiations so long as you're in a location where you have access to your resources. Lastly, when you have an Item-based exploit, you can choose to spend or invest 1 Focus/tier instead of a surge in order to retain that exploit (see Exploits).

Note: Some NPCs may take offense at being offered payment when all they want is respect, reciprocity, honor, etc. If you attempt to use this ability in such circumstances (knowingly or unknowingly) this becomes a penalty instead of a bonus.
