Defenses

ARMOR RATING (AR)

Your AR is your accumulative Damage Resistance vs. Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing. Damage Reduction is broken up into types just like other bonuses (ex. circumstance, competence, innate, item, etc.). Armor (Item), Natural Armor (Innate), Profane/Sacred (Circumstance), Racial (Innate), Trait (Competence), and untyped bonuses to Armor Class (AC) are added up to get your AR now that AC is removed from the game.

Armor Negating: Environmental effects (ex. extreme heat, starvation, sleep deprivation, suffocation, thirst, etc.), persistent damage (ex. bleed, catching fire, etc.), internal damage (ex. curses, diseases, poisons), mental effects, and self-inflicted damage ignore armor entirely.

Armor Piercing: Swarm attacks, critical hits, and any attacks that deal bleed or precision damage ignore half of your AR (round AR down).

Other Damage Reduction: If you have Damage Reduction from any source, half it and increase your innate bonus to DR by that amount AND gain a weakness to the effect that gets past it. Assign a bonus type to it as appropriate. For example, a Damage Reduction 10/silver from an innate ability would become a +10 innate bonus to Armor Rating but also a vulnerability 10 vs. silver.

Other Resistances: If you gain resistance to a certain damage type (ex. fire resistance), you apply your AR against that damage type or half your level (rounded up), whichever is greater. If you gain greater resistance, you apply both. If you gain immunity, apply your full level. If you gain greater immunity, apply double your level.

DODGE DEFENSE

All weapon attacks must hit your Dodge DC to hit you. Your Dodge DC is 10 + Dexterity + level + competence (dodge), competence (insight), circumstance (luck), and Size modifiers to AC and all penalties to AC.

Dodge Bonuses: If you have a Competence bonus of +1 or greater to your Dodge DC and are not Off-guard, combat maneuver attacks have to hit your Dodge DC or Parry DC, whichever is greater.

PARRY DEFENSE

All combat maneuver attacks must hit your Parry DC to hit. Your Parry DC is 10 + Str + level + circumstance (deflection), competence (insight), and circumstance (shield) bonuses to AC/CMD and Size bonus to CMD and all penalties to AC (except Size).

Shield Bonuses: If you have a Circumstance bonus of +1 or greater to your Parry DC and are not Off-guard, weapon attacks have to hit your Dodge DC or Parry DC, whichever is greater.
