Summon
(Conjuration or Illusion), Summoning
Selection: Select one creature with a level equal to this effect's tier * 1.5 (rounded down) upon learning this power. This is the creature you can summon. At the GM's discretion, you may be able to customize your own, but otherwise choose from the existing selection in the bestiary.
Activation: 3 actions (Full-round)
Target: 1 summoned creature within Close range
Duration: 1 minute (Concentration, Dismissible)
You summon the selected creature into an unoccupied space within range.
A summoned creature has the minion type, meaning that it cannot take the Delay action, uses Damage Threshold instead of HP (see Minion), and always acts after your turn. The summoned creature is an ally with a maximum loyal attitude to you.
When a summoned creature is banished, dispelled, or killed, it winks out of existence until summoned again. If it is moved into an antimagic field or similar suppressing effect, it winks out of existence until it's no longer overlapping with the field.
Contentious Summoning (-1): Your summoned creature is only friendly rather than completely loyal. You can improve its attitude, but it can also worsen. If you apply this a second time, the summon is indifferent by default and if you apply it a third time, the summon is unfriendly by default. A fourth time and it is actively hostile towards you. Unfriendly creatures often refused to be summoned and require you to make a Concentration check against this effect's DC or fail to summon them. Hostile creatures require the same but +10 to the DC.
Mass Summon (+1): You can summon 1d2+1 creatures instead of 1 but due to this upgrade consuming part of the effect's tier, the maximum level is also reduced accordingly. If you apply this a second time this increases to 1d3+2 and if you apply it a third time it increases to 1d4+3. So if you had Summon 4 with Mass Summon applied twice (total tier 6), it would summon up to 1d3+2 level 6 creatures.
Mount Summon (+1): The summon has a -2 penalty to attack and damage rolls (except to Overrun, Shove, and Trample) but a +10-foot increase to all its base speeds and +2 to its DT.
Summon Type (+1): Choose a creature type. Instead of having only one specific creature you can summon, you can summon any creature that has the chosen type. You can apply this upgrade multiple times, adding an additional type each time.
