Split



Combat, Innate


Cost: 4 XP/tier

Prerequisites: Blobular shape, Amorphous, Constitution, Regeneration.



Once per day, when your character takes massive damage or a critical hit that they survive, they split into two copies of themselves that are each one size smaller and each have half the original's remaining hit points, mana points, spell slots, etc. Only one retains their gear which may not even fit the new size and simply drop off in its space. Both are controlled by you.

As long as there are multiple duplicates, none of them can gain the benefits of rest until they merge back together or the others die. They may merge back together as a full-round action while adjacent. If one dies, the survivor's normal stats return after a short rest (max hit points, mana points, etc.) but requires 3d6 months to regain original size without remerging.

Duplicates can be further split at tier 2 and higher. Duplicates that re-merge have the memories of all duplicates.



Tier 2: Split can happen up to twice per day and recovery time is reduced to 3d6 weeks.

Tier 3: Split can happen up to three times per day and recovery time is reduced to 3d6 days.

Tier 4: Split can happen up to four times per day and recovery time is reduced to 1 long rest.

Tier 5: Split can happen up to five times per day and recovery time is reduced to 1 short rest.

Intentional Split (+1): You can split intentionally as a 2-action activity (standard).

Massive Split (+1): The first time you split each day, your duplicates are not reduced in size. This upgrade can be applied multiple times to apply to the second, third, fourth, etc.
