A long stretch of islands arcing around the
Maelstrom serve as landmarks to avoid the dreaded area. Rumors of pirates and mysterious creatures on the islands lead most sailors to avoid them altogether. Those that have seen the isles claim its beaches are full of beached ships and bones, so they are best left alone.
