Shimmering Sands
The Shimmering Sands or Shimmering Desert is a vast arid desert in the Southlands. Its namesake comes from the common mirages caused by its intense heat. It is also rumored many strange creatures and phenomena appear in the desert including insectoid monstrosities, sand sharks, dune wurms, and even metal wizards. The Obsidian Mountains and Obsidian Cliffs that surround the Shimmering Sands are known to house many strange creatures in the shadows as well. Rumors of flying carpets and metal disks wandering the desert at night are also spread among those who have traversed the areas.
It is said grand civilizations were lost to this territory after a great catastrophe destroyed the once fertile land. Who knows what untold riches and dangers lay just beneath sands...
