Shambhala
Shambhala (Sanskrit: शम्भल, IAST: Śambhala), also spelled Shambala or Shamballa, is a spiritual kingdom as well as a physical location. Shambhala itself is a demiplane in the spiritual realms, but there's a location in the physical realm called Shambhala which connects to and overlaps with it.
Shambhala is ruled by the powerful mage Maitreya Ajitā, also known as the "Lord of Love" or the "Noble Loving One". His followers see him as the direct successor of Gautama Buddha.
Maitreya's teachings are focused around re-establishing the Buddha's Dharma. The arrival of Maitreya was prophesied to occur during an era of decline when the teachings of Gautama Buddha have been disregarded or largely forgotten.
Traditional Buddhists believe that Maitreya originated from the Tushita heaven and has been granting visions to those who follow his teachings for centuries.
