PALADINIC MAGE
This archetype can be applied to the mage, battle mage, and war mage class.
Requirements: Celestial or infernal casting.
Losses:
- 2nd, 8th, and 16th level augment.
- First 1st-level invocation.
- Invocations require focus and verbal components like spells.
Gains:
- 1st level - Aura of good, detect evil, alignment restriction, and code of conduct as a Paladin of the same level.
- 2nd level - Smite Evil or Lay on Hands as a Paladin of the same level (your choice). Unlike the normal version, you gain yours as an invocation meaning they can be used at will but have invocation restrictions. You can sacrifice your 4th, 10th, and 18th augment to gain both of these abilities.
- You can gain Aura of Courage, Divine Health, a Mercy (if you have Lay on Hands), Channel Energy, Divine Bond, Aura of Resolve, Aura of Justice, Aura of Faith, or Aura of Righteousness in place of an augment but no sooner than the level the Paladin normally gains them. You can use your other augments to gain more of these abilities as well. Your effective paladin level for these purposes is twice the number of these abilities you already possess or your class level, whichever is lower.
- You can gain Holy Champion as an alternate capstone if you have at least 5 augments used to gain paladin abilities.
