Orcus

To the north east lays the cold and harsh lands known as Orcus, home of the orcs and other goblinoids. Legend tells of an ancient god known as Orcus (for whom the lands are named) who craved honor through battle and sought to punish those who broke oaths. However, Orcus was cast out from the Midland gods and his name stricken from their records, his name now being equated to a demon rather than a god. There are many versions of this tale, some portraying Orcus as a traitor and a monster, others portraying the Midland gods as cruel and unjust. In either case, Orcus created the orcs and oni from the ranks of goblinoids to serve as leaders and warriors for their otherwise disorganized ranks.

Nowadays, orcs are known for assembling raiding parties that attack surrounding territories for slaves and supplies. Goblins are known for resorting to sneaking into the shadowy areas of civilization to steal trinkets and food and flee back to their caves and warrens with their prizes. Goblins are often deceitful but much like the fey, they prefer to deceive through misleading and implication rather than direct lies.

Sometimes giants, orcs, and goblinoids unite into Fomorian warbands or even mighty hordes when a great oni chief or goblin king manages to rally them to attack in large military campaigns. This is why the Great Wall was built by the Dusk Empire in the east to deter and slow such attacks.
