Mettle

Prerequisites: (Intimidation or Sense Motive or any of the following Lore skills: Arcana, Nature, Religion, Society), (Charisma or Wisdom), Iron Will
Requirements: You are not demoralized, distracted, or stupefied.
Activation: Reaction; Triggered when an effect requires you to make a Charisma (Will) or Wisdom (Will) saving throw
Target: Triggering effect
Rolls: You make the saving throw
In addition the normal effects of the saving throw, you also gain the following:
Critical Success: As a success but [Tier * 10].
Success: You reduce the damage by [Tier * 5], treating it as a miss if this reduces it to 0 before resistances.
ADAMANTINE MIND (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: Mettle.
Benefits: Whenever you use Mettle and get a success against a Compulsion, Confusion, Emotion, Enchantment, or Mental effect, the user of the effect must make a Will save against DC10 + your level + your Charisma modifier.
- Failure: Staggered 1 for 1 round (or Staggered 2 if your initial saving throw was a critical success).
- Critical Failure: Staggered 2 for 1 round (or Staggered 3 if your initial saving throw was a critical success).
If you apply this upgrade a second time, it applies even when you don't use Mettle. If you apply it a third time increase the staggered stage by 1 for all results, including a success which becomes staggered 1 (or Staggered 2 if your initial saving throw was a critical success).
IMPROVED METTLE (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Mettle.
Benefits: On a failed (but not critically failed) save, you reduce the damage by [Tier * 2], treating it as a miss if this reduces it to 0 before resistances.
ROLL WITH IT (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Mettle.
Benefits: When you use Mettle, you may shift 1 space (5 feet) as a Reaction. If you already used a Reaction to use Mettle, this occurs as part of that same action. Each additional time you take this upgrade increases the distance by 1 space (5 feet), up to half your base speed.
TRUE METTLE (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Mettle.
Benefits: Once per round, you may Mettle as a free action. This stacks for additional uses per round.
