Human
Humans are driven, adaptable, and ambitious, making them the dominant race in much of the world. Their societies are diverse and turbulent, ranging from tribal cultures to decadent empires, and many humans seek adventure, conquest, or discovery simply because they can. They balance reverence for the past with a willingness to abandon tradition and pursue new paths, collecting relics, knowledge, and experiences as symbols of progress and achievement.
Human attitudes toward other races are complex: curious and sociable, yet often arrogant or ignorant of their own biases. While many humans form alliances and embrace diversity, others succumb to fear, xenophobia, and intolerance, sometimes with violent consequences. Still, movements for unity and cooperation persist across cultures.
Physically, humans vary widely in appearance, shaped by climate, ancestry, and culture, with distinctive regional traits and traditions of dress and body modification. Their societies are constantly changing, with empires rising and falling, driven by flexibility, ambition, and a restless drive to explore beyond the known world.
Humans frequently come into conflict with other races through expansion, but they are equally capable of diplomacy and cooperation. Though pride and prejudice are common flaws, human diversity also makes them unusually capable of acceptance and adaptation.

- Skilled (3 XP): Humans gain +1 extra skill rank at every level, including 1st.

Humans begin with their innate traits and can gain additional traits from the following list as feats.
ADOPTED (2 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: Choose one base race. You gain the benefits of the Favored Enemy feature for that race. While socializing with that race, you're treated as already knowing the normal etiquette and faux paus and cultural taboos and rules as if you'd been raised as one of them.
HUMAN INGENUITY (2 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: Whenever you take a penalty for not having the proper tools or not being proficient with a weapon, you take only half the normal penalties.
HUMAN DRIVE (2 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: Select two skills. They become class skills for you.
HUMAN ELEMENT (2 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: Once per day, you may treat a non-human as one attitude step friendlier for 1 minute.
HUMAN POTENTIAL (5 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: You automatically gain an additional surge at the start of every session (or per day in systems without sessions).
HUMAN SPIRIT (2 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: When you spend a surge to boost a roll, roll two boost dice (2d12 or 2d6) and take the better of the two rolls.
JACK-OF-ALL TRADES (6 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: You can make any skill check untrained and are treated as trained.
LINGUIST (1 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: You immediately learn one additional language and can learn any language as a bonus language, except secretive ones such as Druidic.
RELENTLESS ADAPTABILITY (5 XP)
Prerequisites: Human.
Benefit: Once per day as an immediate action, you may gain proficiency with any one weapon, armor, or tool for 1 minute. Alternatively, you may gain a +2 innate (racial) bonus to one skill for 1 minute instead.
