Floating Disk
Abjuration, Evocation, Force
Activation: 2 actions (Standard)
Target: 1 created disk of force up to small-size within Close range
Duration: 2 hours (Dismissible)
You create a slightly concave, circular plane of force that follows you and carries objects. The disk is 3 feet in diameter and 1 inch deep at its center. It holds up to (casting modifier) x 10 pounds or up to (casting modifier) gallons of liquid.
The disk floats about 3 feet above the ground, remains level, and moves horizontally within range at up to your normal speed. Unless directed otherwise, it stays 5 feet from you.
The disk vanishes when this effect ends, if you move beyond range, or if it is taken more than 3 feet above the surface beneath it. Any carried objects then fall to the surface below.
Tier 2: The disk increases to Medium-size and increases its weight and liquid volume capacity by a factor of 10.
Tier 3: As tier 2 but Large and factor of 30.
Tier 4: As tier 2 but Huge and factor of 100.
Tier 5: As tier 2 but Gargantuan and factor of 300.
Tier 5: As tier 2 but Colossal and factor of 1,000.
Floating Carriage (+1): Your floating disk becomes a cage-like sphere or cube with walls and windows to protect its cargo. This doubles the volume of liquid it can carry but does not increase the weight limit. It also grants its cargo cover against ranged attacks and from melee attacks from any creature smaller than the disk if those attacks originate from outside the disk's protective covering.
Defensive Disk (+1): While adjacent to or riding atop your floating disk with at least one hand free, you can spend a standard action to grip the disk by its edge, tilt it, and use it to deflect blows. Until the beginning of your next turn, your floating disk grants you the benefits of the shield spell. If you are already under the effects of the shield spell from another source, this effect instead increases the spell’s shield bonus by 1 until the beginning of your next turn. If it has the Floating Carriage upgrade, it applies this benefit to all its cargo and passengers. If you have the Shield Proficiency or Mobility feat, you can do this as a move action. If you have both you can do so as a swift action. If you have both feats and move the Disk at least 10 feet, you can do so as a free action on your turn or immediate action outside your turn.
Disk Rider (+1): You can ride atop any floating disk you create, so long as it has the capacity to support your weight. This grants you a fly speed of 30 feet (average), but the disk cannot move itself or you more than 5 feet above the ground at any time. If you are on a location within the Astral Plane—the disk can instead fly to any height, and your fly speed while standing on it increases to 40 feet (good). When you cast floating disk, you can step onto the disk in your space as part of the action required to cast the spell. While riding your disk you can attempt a Fly check. If you hit DC15 or better, you can fly higher than 5 feet above the ground, up to a height equal to your check result -5 (rounded down to the nearest 5-foot increment). However, you must return to a location 5 feet above a stable surface before the end of your turn or fall.
Force Check (+1): You must have the Disk Rider upgrade applied and must have the Catch Off-Guard or Improved Bull Rush feat to apply this upgrade. When you successfully charge and bull rush a creature while riding atop your floating disk, you can veer the disk into your target, dealing 1d6 points of bludgeoning damage in addition to moving the target. You gain a +4 circumstance bonus to your defenses against any attack of opportunity attempted against you when performing a bull rush in this way.
Opaque (+1): By default the disk is visible but translucent. With this upgrade you can make it opaque and any color or colors you want. If the pattern you create is complex, you'll need a Craft, Perform, or Profession roll to determine the quality of your artistry. You can use this to craft disguises or camouflage granting you the normal bonuses based on what you craft. For example, you could make the floating disk look like a cloud in the sky so anything beneath you would not notice it or make it look like a wagon rolling along the ground to fool onlookers into thinking it was just a mundane piece of gear.
Spurn Gravity (+1): Your floating disk is affected as if by the feather fall effect whenever it falls, as is anything it carries. So long as you have at least 1 hour or more left on your floating disk's duration, you can use a swift action to reduce the remaining duration to 1d4+(casting modifier) rounds but gain the benefits of Disk Rider for the remaining duration. If you already have that upgrade applied, this action instead increases your fly speed by 20 feet and your disk ignores altitude limitations.
