Dodge



Combat, Defense


Prerequisites: (Acrobatics or Initiative), Dexterity, Lightning Reflexes



Requirements: You are not off-guard, staggered, wearing medium or heavy armor, or carrying a medium or heavier load.

Activation: Reaction; Trigger An attack hits your Dodge DC

Target: Triggering effect

Rolls: You make a Reflex saving throw against DC (triggering effect's attack roll result)



Critical Success: As a success but [Tier * 10].

Success: You reduce the damage by [Tier * 5], treating it as a miss if this reduces it to 0 before resistances. This doesn't work against area effects unless you have cover. This doesn't work against spread effects unless you have total cover.




AGILE REDIRECTION (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Dodge.
Benefits: When Dodge causes an attack to miss, you may use a Reaction to redirect it to another valid adjacent target. If you already used a Reaction to Dodge, this occurs as part of that same action. The attack is rerolled against the new target with the same bonuses and effects. Taking this upgrade a second time allows you to redirect to any valid target within 30 feet or the attack’s range (whichever is less). Each additional time increases this range by 30 feet.


AGILE RIPOSTE (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Dodge.
Benefits: When Dodge causes an attack to miss, you may make an attack of opportunity against the attacker. You may forgo this to instead treat the attack as a critical miss.


EVASION (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Dodge.
Benefits: You can activate Dodge in response to an effect that requires you to make a Reflex saving throw as well, rolling against the effect DC instead of attack roll result. When you do so, you make only one Reflex saving throw against the effect applying the benefits to Dodge to it as well.


EVASIVE MANEUVERS (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Dodge.
Benefits: Once per round, you may Dodge as a free action. This stacks for additional uses per round. If you have Agile Redirection or Sidestep, you may expend one of these uses to activate those upgrades. Each activation consumes one Dodge use but not your Reaction.


DIVE FOR COVER (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: Sidestep.
Benefits: Whenever you Dodge, you gain the benefits of Take Cover and/or Drop Prone (your choice). If your sidestep causes you to leave the area or range of the attack, you're treated as having total cover against it as well if you do take cover and/or drop prone.


SIDESTEP (+1 tier)
Prerequisites: As Dodge.
Benefits: When Dodge causes an attack to miss, you may shift 1 space (5 feet) as a Reaction. If you already used a Reaction to Dodge, this occurs as part of that same action. Each additional time you take this upgrade increases the distance by 1 space (5 feet), up to half your base speed.
