Caligni



Also known as Calignae, Repha'im, Hivites, or Daughters/Sons of Ham, the Caligni are a mysterious people native to the plane of shadows and associated with a mysterious place of the underworld they call Sheol. They appear like grey-skinned humans adorned with funeral garbs and one or more pieces of jewelry signifying their house or family. Mastering death and shadow magic, they can turn into shadows and move to and from the Shadow realm with ease. Repha'im talk about life and death as if they were merely two different physical places and do not seem to fear death at all. They claim to be healers and kings among mortals. Some even having the title of Malakuma, meaning "recently dead king" or "soon to die king" which seems to be an honor among them.

ADDITIONAL ABILITIES

Caligni begin with their innate traits and can gain additional traits from the following list as feats.

Blinking Shadows (4 XP): You gain Blink as an innate occult power.

Commune with Dead (6 XP): You gain Speak with Dead as an innate occult power and learn the Necrolingua language. You can also perform a right over any corpse that has had this spell cast on it to say a prayer and guide it's soul to the afterlife. The corpses is treated as having been slain by a Death effect with a tier equal to your Speak with Dead tier after you do this so that no one can disturb their rest.

Darkness (4 XP): You gain Darkness as an innate occult power.

Invisibility (4 XP): You gain Invisibility as an innate occult power.

Shadow Armor (4 XP): You gain Shadow Armor as an innate occult  power.

Shadow Clone (4 XP): You can make a shadow clone of yourself. This works like Summon Monster except you make copies of yourself and your gear. Each copy has a number of negative levels equal to 3 + the total number of copies but otherwise can act and function like you. Their gear vanishes into nothing if removed from them. You gain all the memories of your shadow clones upon their deaths or upon this effect ending, whichever occurs first.

Shadow Duplicates (4 XP): You gain Shadow Mirror as an innate occult power. It functions as Mirror Image except it produces 1 less image than normal in bright light and 1 more image than normal in dim light or darkness. Every round you remain in bright light at both the start and end of your turn, an image automatically disappears.

Shadow Jump (4 XP): You gain Teleport as an innate occult power. If functions at twice the normal range and you can roll accuracy twice taking the better result but can only be used to teleport to and from locations of dim light or darkness. If used in brighter conditions, it's treated as if you'd teleported into a solid object.

Shadow Form (4 XP): You gain Shadow Form as an innate occult power.

Shadow Walk (4 XP): You gain Shadow Walk as an innate occult power.

Summon Shadows (4 XP): You can summon shadows. This works like Summon (incoporeal) except you can only summon shadows. Unlike the normal power, your version lasts twice as long, your shadows have See in Darkness, and you're in constant telepathic communication with them. Your shadows are sickened in bright light but gain a +2 enhancement bonus to all attributes in total darkness. They are also repelled from bright light if dim lighting conditions or darkness are anywhere within sight.
