You can Overcast even while at 0 MP (see Mana Points), but doing so imposes you with the Mana Burn condition. Each additional time this condition is imposed on you, its stage worsens by 1.
Mana Burn: While affected by Mana Burn, you are fatigued of the same stage and all buff, healing, and other harmless magical effects have a 25% failure chance when used on you (even if you're willing and even if you use it on yourself).
While suffering mana burn you are treated as suffering from malnutrition for the purposes of fast healing, regeneration, and all other forms of innate or natural healing.
Unless noted otherwise, a short rest reduces the Mana Burn stage by 1, removing it when reduced to 0.
If you die while suffering from Mana Burn, you are treated as having been killed by a death effect with a tier equal to the cumulative tiers of all magical effects you cast while suffering Mana Burn.
Overcasting while affected by Mana Burn treats the hit point loss as bleed damage for the purposes of effects that detect bleeding or blood.
Once Mana Burn ends, all these calculations are reset.
Tier 2+: The first time you overcast while at 0 MP, there's a 50% chance you do not gain the Mana Burn condition from doing so. Each additional tier applies this effect to one additional use (2nd time, 3rd time, etc.). This resets only after you take a short rest.
