Blackwall
The Blackwall Mountains stretch in a semi-circle all around the Shimmering Sands and stand like a great wall between the midsouth and the far south. There is only one road that travels through the mountains and the entrance is called Blackwall due to the steep, nearly perfectly flat formation of the mountains there looking much like a giant wall with a gate in it. The mountains contain ash, iron, and obsidian causing them to appear almost black, thus their name.
Few dare to traverse the mountains, preferring to take longer routes around due to the rumors of horrific alien monstrosities hiding within. Disappearances are common for travelers who attempt the journey, so fewer and fewer attempt it every year.
Though, the few who survive have spoken of ancient treasures and strange magics within those mountains and the Shimmering Sands themselves. Some have even taken treasure back with them and made incredible fortunes.
