Critical Failure Your attunement backfires causing you to suffer a random mishap unless the item notes otherwise with its own mishaps.
Notes Unless noted otherwise, an object's attunement difficulty is equal to 10 + size + rarity rating (common 0, uncommon 5, rare 10, unique 15) + double tier. It it's a sapient item, add it's highest mental attribute modifier to this difficulty rating.
