Races: Arachnoids

Descended from the spider goddess Arachne (aka Gogyeng Sowuht, Kokyangwuti, Na'ashjé'ii Asdzáá, Spider Grandmother, or Teotihuacan) and the spider god, Anansi (aka Aiapæc, Ai Apaec, Areop-Enap, Iktomi, Nanabozho, Nareau, or Phalanx), the arachnoids, are a race of spider-like humanoids. Also called "spiderfolk" by non-myriad, arachnoids take many forms such as arachnitaurs, djieien, ettercaps, jorōgumo, and tsuchigumo. Spiderfolk are usually solitary, but younglings do often create temporary hives and nests of webs they use to survive in numbers against larger prey. Once they've reached a certain size, nests will eat each other until only a few remain or they will spread out to claim more territory.

Arachnitaurs
Large Organic Tauric Sapients (Arachnid, Chimera, Myriad, Vermin)
Arachnitaurs are effectively centaurs but instead of half-horse, they are half-spider. Their upper bodies resemble the upper bodies of humans but with spider-like features such as six eyes, mandibles, chittin, and clawlike fingers.

Djieien
Djieien is a title given to arachnoid necromancers after a famous tsuchigumo who turned its own heart into a phylactery and buried it in the earth to become a lich. It was eventually slain by a human hero, Othegwenhda (aka Hiawatha), but pulling off this magical feat was still seen as impressive and memorable. Anyone with powerful dark magic gets this title, especially if they are a necromancer or lich.

Ettercaps
Medium Organic Humanoid Sapients (Arachnid, Myriad, Vermin)
Ettercaps are humanoids who resemble spiders. They have only two arms and two legs, but have six buglike eyes and large mandibles like a spider. They have only two clawlike fingers on each hand and foot and chitin all over their body. They are known for having bad tempermants.

Jorogumo
Jorogumo is a title given to any myriad who learns the art of Jorogumo, or "shapeshifting". The most basic art is to transform into a non-myriad humanoid or a non-myriad vermin such as a spider.

Tsuchigumo
Medium Organic Radial Sapients (Arachnid, Myriad, Vermin)
Tsuchigumo are horrific looking human-sized spiders with a body like a spider and a head that resembles a mix between an ogre and a spider. They dwell underground and in caves and other dark hidden places within the earth. Their tough chitin and deadly venom make them fearsome foes. Most die by their middle-aged years for a variety of reasons, but the rare few that grow old can sometimes grow to large size. They are known for being disloyal and vengeful and are generally disliked by most other creatures, including each other.
