Two Ford, 75 Miles from Greyhawk
3rd Stop: Porbell's Mercantile & Transport caravan to Hardby
Owned and operated by a retired dwarven cleric of Moradin and his family, this peaceful inn resides partially embedded in a hillside, with most of the working area covered by the hill. Kitchen, baths, common room and the family’s rooms are incorporated in comfortably warm mound, with the natural insulation of the earth providing a stable temperature. Stone doors separate the guest areas from the private, family rooms. The jakes are outside, fashioned of stone and a few steps from the inn walls. The 8 guest rooms are on the outer edges of the building, with a good amount of heating and cooling provided by the stone floors that reach back into the hill. Carpets cover most of the flooring outside the buried portions. A central fireplace in the common room and a cooking fire in the kitchens are vented out through the front of the structure via a stone chimney. In a corner of the common room is a stone-carved shrine to Fortubo, and much of the inn is decorated with various stone carvings and bas relief finishing, carved by the owner and his children.
In emergencies, the stone doors between the guest areas and the other areas can be shut, and the walls to the interior are also of stone. There is no secret exit into the depths of the hill further, but there is hidden ventilation.
Services provided by the site include the standard fare, with a Dwarven culture option offered for slightly less than standard costs, as the owner's wife loves to cook traditionally.
Owner - Darius Onyxborn - Grey haired, grey skinned father and grandfather. Wears an apron over his robes and moves through the inn serving his clientele with a calm but unsmiling demeanor. The only times he may crack a smile or show emotion is when his children or grandchildren are around.
Spouse - Frissar Onyxborn (Tremblor) - Dark hair with touches of grey, Whiteish skin and flour-dusted clothing. She is usually found in the kitchen cooking and brewing, ordering and receiving. She is the heart of the inn and the one who keeps it stocked and bustling.
Children - Fillonavar Onyxborn and his wife Haster, with their two children Hasten (male 16) and Stabilu (female 6). They work in the inn as well as crafting small stone works for sale. Sometimes both parents are out to either Greyhawk or Hardy for selling or buying supplies and such.
- Regulus and her husband Grenuil, and their one very young (1 year old) daughter Ustil. The youngest family, they help out at the inn where possible. Grenuil is a beginning woodworker and journeyman stonemason without an ounce of creativity in his noggin. His works are practical but basic.
Two times a year, Darius and his wife make a pilgrimage to the Iron Hills for high holidays and are gone for three weeks or so.
