Shaft and Feather
Nestled on a side street near the Blue Dragon Inn, the Shaft and feather occupies the ground floor of a well built but modest two story building. The second floor overhangs the ground floor providing shade and shelter from inclement weather. The shop itself is marked by a small but freshly painted sign depicting crossed, fletched arrows. The sign hangs from a cross beam fashioned in the shape of a long composite bow. The two (barred and shuttered) windows on the second floor facing the street have containing flowers and herbs. On the street side there is a single window again barred and shuttered with a stoutly built door. The door and windows are normally open during business hours when the weather is good.
The business is run by Harney Derry, his son Rudo and a young, obviously half orc apprentice named Yagaz. Harney is slightly built and on the short side but is alert and friendly to well mannered customers. An elf or half-elf can determine that Harney has a good deal of Elven blood. He will not deny his heritage if asked but doesn't advertise it.
The first floor is mostly a combination of shop and workshop. Nearly arranged stacks of arrows and crossbow bolts along with two short bows and a short composite bow are on display with a beautifully crafted long bow given pride of place in the middle of the shop. The workshop area is neatly arranged with partially completed arrows and bows. The room has an aromatic smell of glues and the different wood in use or hanging from the ceiling to dry and set.
Harney can sell arrows or quarrels plus the two short bows, short composite bow and longbow on display. He is currently working on a long composite bow to teach his son and apprentice the delicate arts of bonding and gluing such a complex weapon. He currently doesn't have a buyer and will be done with the bow in about 3-4 weeks at his current pace. Harney also has a pair of light and heavy crossbows that are obviously used but in excellent to good shape. Harney will say that he bought the bows from an adventurerer as he does not make crossbows himself.
