Klaus's Brauhaus

The building’s exterior has the appearance of a warehouse. There are no windows except for a small one in the business office which overlooks the shop floor. The floor itself is covered by work tables, vats, hoses, and the sort of simple machinery one would expect in a commercial brewery.

The owner/proprietor, Klaus von Traus, is a retired mercenary soldier who opened his Brauhaus just a year ago at the urging of his wife and son, who thought he could make a successful transition from amateur brewer to professional. This confidence turned out to be well-founded, as Klaus’s Kolsch has quickly become one of the most popular beers in town.

The Brauhaus is primarily a wholesale operation, where Klaus brews, stores, and supplies beer to a number of bars, restaurants, and taverns in town. The owners and operators of these client establishments are invited to a weekly sampling of new offerings from the brewery each Starday. Thanks to a special dispensation from the local authorities, Klaus is also permitted to sell his product by the glass on premises each Sunday, Moonday, Waterday, and Earthday. These sales are conducted outside the building’s entrance, using a small tent, a temporary stand, and a single table with four chairs.

A pint of Kolsch generally retails for up to 2 silver pieces but can be bought for 4 coppers on premises. A merchant license is required to purchase a 15-gallon barrel, which sells for 1 platinum.
