Janek's Blades

Nearing lunch, the group of collectors found themselves in front of a small shop on River Street.  It was the first building on the south side of the street.  Being very familiar with weapons shops, Treakle volunteered to be the spokesperson for this location.  The shop seemed rather plain, but how does one decorate to sell weapons?  There was a sword welded to a chain hanging from the porch roof, and a sign announcing "Janek's Blades.

When Treakle entered the shop, he felt at home.  He would be back here, and soon!  The proprietor was a dwarf, shorter than Treakle by a good half-foot, and somewhat older, but still had a friendly demeanor.

"Greetings, you must be Janek.  I am Treakle and we represent the Nightwatchmen's Guild."  He presents the letter.  "We were sent to collect gifts for Pelor's Day and understand that you have a donation to make.

Janek replied, "Yes, indeed, good sir, I am Janek, and I do have a gift.  That is a nice looking sword you have there.  A little to large for me, I used a broadsword in my days of adventuring, when I wasn't throwing a dagger or two.  I realize a lot of dwarves prefer axes, but I find swords a bit more versatile and fit for more situations.  As to can see from the selection here, there are swords for all occasions.  Most come from the local blacksmith, but there are some from far away, even across the sea.  I hope you will come see me when you are looking for compliments for that fine sword."

He suddenly looks at the entourage behind Treakle and realizing he was blathering on.  He says, "wait a moment, I will go get the gifts."

Janek disappears to the back of the shop for a few minutes and then brings out a box filled with colorful scarves.  Treakle didn't expect such color from a weapons seller, but accepted the box with a smile.  "Thank you, I am sure the children will love them."

Janek replied, "A good friend of mine, Vala, loved colorful scarves and used to give them to children when we traveled through towns.  Those were the days."

Treakle shook his hand and the group continued on their route.
